Community Involvement
Elks Rehab Hospital supports many community events through sponsorships, donations and
providing hundreds of volunteers for our neighborhood causes.
Idaho Wheelchair Camp
In 1988 the Idaho Youth Wheelchair Sports Camp (IYWSC) began, sponsored by Elks Rehab Hospital
and Boise Parks and Recreation Department. It was established to provide recreational,
athletic and competitive opportunities for youth. It is designed for young people using
wheelchairs or other assistive devices (i.e. crutches, walkers, and braces). Since its
inception, the IYWSC has provided a variety of experiences for over 325 young athletes
from Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Participants learn and enjoy activities such as:
- tennis
- basketball
- baseball
- canoeing/ kayaking
- cycling
- soccer
- track and field
Each athlete is paired with a volunteer to assist and support as needed. Camp will be

St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Celebration Elite Wheelchair Athletes
The St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Celebration is a three day event encompassing a two day
Women’s Show and a 5K Run, Walk and Stroll for women of all ages and all abilities.
Founded in September 1993, the Celebration 5K has grown each year as more and more
participants share the event with their families and friends. Elite Wheelchair Athletes
come from all parts of the United States to participate in this event. Elks Rehab Hospital
serves as host, sponsor and donates prize money.
American Heart Association Heart Walk
The Treasure Valley Start! Heart Walk is an annual fundraising event featuring 3.2 mile
and 1.0 mile non-competitive walk routes. The Heart Walk is designed to bring public
awareness of physical activity and heart-healthy lifestyles and raise critical dollars
to fund the life-saving mission of the American Heart Association. Walkers from all over
the Treasure Valley step out to support the fight against our nation's leading cause of
death - heart disease. Elks Rehab Hospital is a sponsor of the event and supports a Heart
Walk team made up of employees, families and friends.
Elks Meals on Wheels
On June 1, 2009, Elks Rehab Hospital assumed responsibility for the Meals on Wheels program in Ada County.
For over sixty years, we have been taking care of the rehabilitation needs of patients
throughout Idaho. Now, we are excited to further assist our friends and neighbors with your
daily meals, whether they are delivered to homes or enjoyed at one of our group locations.

Health Fairs
Elks Rehab Hospital participates in many free health fairs in Idaho and Oregon. We provide
