Community Involvement

Elks Rehab Hospital supports many community events through sponsorships, donations and providing hundreds of volunteers for our neighborhood causes.

Idaho Wheelchair Camp

In 1988 the Idaho Youth Wheelchair Sports Camp (IYWSC) began, sponsored by Elks Rehab Hospital and Boise Parks and Recreation Department. It was established to provide recreational, athletic and competitive opportunities for youth. It is designed for young people using wheelchairs or other assistive devices (i.e. crutches, walkers, and braces). Since its inception, the IYWSC has provided a variety of experiences for over 325 young athletes from Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Participants learn and enjoy activities such as:

  • tennis
  • basketball
  • baseball
  • canoeing/ kayaking
  • cycling
  • soccer
  • track and field

Each athlete is paired with a volunteer to assist and support as needed. Camp will be held this year June. For more information e-mail ekovarik@cityofboise.org Click here to download the IYWSC Brochure. BROCHURE
